Advent at St Marie's

Here at St Marie's we are well and truly entering the spirit of Advent. Today has been a busy day. Our EYFS performed an amazing dress rehearsal of their Christmas play 'The Wriggly Nativity'. The staff who watched it, said it was fantastic. I can't wait to see it tomorrow and know that the parents will love it. This evening we have our KS1 Christmas performance of 'The Inn- Spectors!' We watched the dress rehearsal yesterday and again- what a fantastic performance!

Talking of inspections, we have at long last raised the 'Outstanding' flag on the flag pole today. A great recognition of all the hard work that everyone puts in here at St Marie's.

Also today, the KS2 choir have been singing Christmas songs and hymns in Bury market, bringing cheer to the busy shoppers and raising money for charity too. The shoppers were very generous and our parents came to watch and support. their children too.  Well done choir! A brilliant effort!

As I type, some of the staff are putting the finishing touches to their displays in the hall. We have all been exploring the work of different artists and the displays are just amazing- very creative and a great celebration of the children's hard work and the learning journey that they have been on.

That's all for now...

See you soon.

Y3/4 Mass

Wednesday 28/11/18

I have just returned from a lovely Mass in the small school hall which the Y3 and Y4 children prepared. The readers read beautifully and everyone sang with joy in their hearts! Well done Mrs Hodgson for organising the Mass and helping the children to celebrate it so well. What a lovely way to start the day!

Our Blogging Journey begins...

In our wonderful school, learning takes place around every corner and the staff room is no exception! The teachers are starting to learn more about blogging and are looking forward to sharing some of their thoughts and ideas with you. It's an exciting time, as very soon, all of the children in school will be encouraged to blog about their learning experiences too.

There are SO many amazing and exciting things happening is school at the moment. We've just had the travelling Mercy Door in school which (once we managed to fit it together!) enabled all of the children to walk through it and to receive a blessing from their class teacher.

Today (Thursday May 5th) we have some visiting Chaplains from Holy Cross College. They are supporting our school prayer leaders in setting up and running some prayer stations. Four Prayer leaders have been trained up and they are sharing their ideas with the rest of the Y5/6 prayer leaders. I'm really proud of their dedication and commitment (Holly-Mai, Makenzie, Wiktoria and Emily- thank you!) The prayer leaders will then lead the entire school in prayer later this term, as each class will get a chance to visit the prayer stations..

This Saturday, I'm off to Walsingham, which is very exciting. For many years, I've listened to Mrs Robinson talk about her visits but I've never had the chance to go before. I shall let you know how it goes.

The sun is shining and the trees are in blossom.

It's been good to 'blog'

Take care everyone
